Experiments III is a further development of Experiments II upon request from the HEK (House of Electronic Arts) for the exhibition Other Intelligences. Glas blown petri dishes in different shapes contain agar-agar and mycelium, the invisible architect of life. The aesthetics of lush elements from the forest is contrasted through acrylic glass, construction material and ultraviolett light. The mycelia colonies will spread over the course of the exhibition in unique shapes. The shapes of the petri dishes are derived from notions about the form of consciousness from various sources; AI, indigenous mexican wisdom and the artists own imagination. Above, electrodes capture the bioelectrical signals emitted by growing mushrooms, amplified by an electronic circuit that transforms the energy into pulses of light. This light travels along a glass fiber, bringing together the materiality of the World Wide Web with fungi, the interfaces of the Wood Wide Web.
